My working experience in the corporate world has totaled more than 20 years and 8 years in the mental health field. In mental health, I have worked with local and international clients in a variety of settings dealing with a range of mental health issues, especially pertaining to anxiety, stress, depression, anger, adjustment disorder, relationship conflicts and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD).
My specialty is providing Employee Assistance Program (EAP) services to organizations with stress-related issues, maximizing performance, coping with change and trauma support, providing talks or conducting workshops on various topics such as managing mental health and providing counselling skills training to managers.
Additionally, I provide counselling services to academic institutions, helping adolescents and university students to cope with and overcome issues related to stress & anxiety, depression, motivational challenges, academic struggles and relationship matters.
My approach to therapy
I work together with my clients to understand their existing thought patterns that are associated with their current struggles while developing strategies to overcome them and helping them enhance their effectiveness to make good decisions to grow and develop.
My goal is to achieve my clients’ needs by helping them go through difficult issues, build pre-requisite skills, make their own choices, reach their own decisions, act upon them and stay accountable to achieve good overall mental wellbeing.
I adopt an eclectic approach, and incorporate Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Solution Focus Therapy and Psychodynamic Therapy.
I speak English, Malay and Cantonese.
