About Me
I am a clinical psychiatrist who favours a dialetic approach. I strongly believe in moving away from labels such as ‘bipolar’ or ‘schizophrenic’, and treating the person. I treat the individual not the illness.
Apart from pharmacological therapy when necessary, I incorporate Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Psychodyanmic therapies and Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing into my practice. My focus is on the emotional and social aspect of a client’s issues.
I see a wide range of clients from adolescents to elderly patients. My areas of interest are adolescents: I believe that this is an interesting stage in their development, which makes them a challenging yet rewarding age group to work with. I am particularly interested in treating trauma, OCD, ADHD and depression.
In the first session, I will perform a complete psychiatric evaluation. It’s important that I get to know the client and the client gets to know my approach. At the end of the session, I will make suggestions on what possible treatments may benefit the client.
I speak English, Malay and Tamil.
